State Fund participates in important industry committees which are integral in shaping a healthy workers’ compensation system in California. Our contributions include our experience, perspective, expertise, and our commitment to California’s employers.
State Fund is represented on the following industry commissions:
- Dept. of Insurance Fraud Assessment Commission is responsible for allocating funds to fight fraud. In October 2016 the commission awarded $34.9M in grants to District Attorneys in 44 state counties to investigate and prosecute workers’ compensation fraud.
- California Workers’ Comp Institute Claims Committee provides data, practical analyses and real-world expertise on issues and trends affecting California workers’ compensation. Research is typically based on claims data collected from member companies, and then used to build consensus on practical solutions to issues facing the industry. The Institute’s most recent reports include California Workers’ Comp Rx Drug Distributions & Opioid Trends and California Workers’ Comp Inpatient Hospital Trends.
- Workers Comp Insurance Rating Bureau Governing Committee sets policy and oversees the management of the affairs of the Workers Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau (WCIRB). The WCIRB provides objective, actuarially-based information and research, advisory pure premium rates, and educational services.
